The Metro Manila Development Authority is now International Organization for Standardization certified after AJA Registrars granted the certification on Monday for the agency’s compliance to quality management systems.
MMDA chairman Danilo Lim received the certificate awarded by AJA Registrars president Paul Bagatsing and Development Academy of the Philippines project manager Cheryl Ortega.
“This is a great day for MMDA having received this certificate. We acknowledge the efforts of the entire workforce in securing the certification. Congratulations to all of us,” said Lim, addressing agency personnel in a flag raising ceremony.
According to Lim, having the ISO certificate has been a dream since he took over as chairman in May 2017.
“Today is the realization of that dream after more than a year in office,” Lim added.
This is the first time for the MMDA to be ISO-certified in a full scope.
Lim is also planning to build a new headquarters for the agency and move out from the existing building that houses agency employees.
“This building is not ours. I want us to have a place of our own and with our continued efforts we can look forward to a ground-breaking ceremony soon,” said Lim.
Bagatsing reminded personnel that ISO certification “requires continual improvement because your test today is going to be tomorrow’s average expectations.”
For his part, MMDA general manager Jose Arturo Garcia Jr. said the certification validates the agency’s commitment to efficient public service, under Lim’s leadership.
“We always want the process to be transparent, ensuring that standardized processes are consistently followed,” said Garcia.
The MMDA´s ISO 9001:2015 certificate is the latest version of the ISO 9001 standard, which is widely-known and internationally accepted for quality management and acknowledges organizations that are able to provide effective customer and regulatory services.
AJA Registrars is an independent third party registrar and certification body operating from a global network of offices providing third-party registration and training services at a local level.
