The International Committee of the Red Cross, in coordination with the Marawi City Water District and Task Force Bangon Marawi, commissioned Maynilad Water Services Inc. to conduct a study on Marawi City’s current pipeline condition, distribution network and water quality.

“Our desire to be part of the sustained effort for Marawi’s recovery has been realized through this project. We are happy to contribute in any way we can, and we hope to be of further help to the government by being part of actual rehabilitation works on Marawi City’s water supply system,” said Maynilad president and chief executive Ramoncito Fernandez.

The engineers were also tapped to conduct a general assessment of damage sustained by the water infrastructure in last year’s armed conflict.

Findings and recommendations from the study will allow for the creation of a hydraulic model to be used for the repair and construction of the water supply system in Marawi City, which will benefit almost 38,000 residents of 96 barangays.
