The sustained anti-graft campaign of the Department of Finance resulted in the dismissal from the service of five Bureau of Customs personnel.
The department said in a statement the anti-graft campaign became successful with prosecution of cases against personnel of the Customs and other DoF-attached agencies before the Office of the Ombudsman and the Civil Service Commission, in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s goal of stamping out corruption in the government.
The DOF’s Revenue Integrity Protection Service said in a report to Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III that from January to August 2018, at least five employees of the Customs were dismissed from the service and indicted for false declaration in their statement of assets, liabilities and networth, while others were slapped with suspension orders.
Thes Customs personnel were found to have owned properties that they did not report in their respective SALNs, according to the agency.
