Bechtel Corp., the largest construction company in the United States, is interested in becoming the joint venture partner of state-owned Philippine National Oil Co. in a liquefied natural gas terminal project.
US Embassy officials and Bechtel executives led by managing director Uday Mathur, recently called on PNOC president Reuben Lista to express interest in the LNG Hub project through a solicited tender perocess.
“Bechtel intends to (participate in the solicited bid process). The board is currently discussing the pre-qualification criteria for the selection of the private sector participants for the LNG project. Terms of reference is being finalized by the technical working group and Asian Development Bank,” Lista said.
Bechtel has delivered over 25,000 projects in 160 countries on all seven continents. It is involved in nuclear, security and environmental, oil, gas and chemicals, and mining and metals markets.
Bechtel has joined the growing list of local and international companies keen on joining the country’s emerging LNG industry.
