American President Donald Trump began his speech before the United Nations Tuesday by bragging about how his administration had accomplished more than any in US history.
He was met by audible gasps and giggles, forcing him to pause in his speech and go off-script.“Didn’t expect that reaction,” he said, “but that’s okay.”
He said it with an awkward laugh, that was met by an even louder round of chuckles.
Trump continued his speech, which lasted for an additional 34 minutes, according to the Washington Post.
“The moment marked a pointed rejoinder from the international community to a president who has delighted in poking traditional US allies and partners in the eye on trade, security alliances and general diplomatic bonhomie,” the Washington Post added.
