In its continuing effort to bring the sport closer to the fans and give them front-view seats of top-notch volley action from the country’s leading players, the Premier Volleyball League will hold six out-of-town games for Season 2 Open Conference which unwraps Saturday (Sept. 22).
The Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan will host the Iriga-Tacloban and Pocari-PetroGazz matches on Sept. 26 before action shifts to the Imus Sports Center in Cavite on Sept. 9 featuring the Iriga-Pocari faceoff and Creamline-PetroGazz duel.
The Baliwag Star Arena, also in Bulacan, will next stage the Pocari-BanKo-Perlas clash and the Ateneo-Creamline game on Oct. 21 while Batangas will host the next PVL stop on Oct. 28 featuring the Tacloban-Iriga and Ateneo-Creamline 2 matches.
Legazpi City, meanwhile, will hold the second Pocari-Creamline duel on Nov. 11 and Creamline and BanKo-Perlas will tangle in Cagayan de Oro on Nov. 17.
All other games will be held at the league’s home at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan, according to the organizing Sports Vision president Ricky Palou.
The country’s premier league has previously held out-of-town games in Batangas, Tuguegarao, Iloilo and Bacolod.
Meanwhile, eight teams gear up for the grueling double-round elims of the season-ending conference of the league backed by Mikasa and Asics with Tacloban and PetroGazz clashing at 4 p.m. and BanKo-Perlas colliding with Iriga-Navy in Saturday’s opener in San Juan.
Others in the fold are Ateneo-Motolite, Pocari-Air Force, Adamson-Akari and Creamline, which ruled the recent Reinforced Conference.
The comebacking Lady Eagles and the Lady Warriors square off in an early clash of fancied teams at 4 p.m. on Sunday with the Angels and Perlas Spikers mixing it up at 6 p.m.
