If he wins in the P15-million libel suit he filed against former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Davao del Norte Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr. said he will use the money to put up a scholarship foundation.
Floirendo said he would ensure that the foundation’s scholarship program shall benefit poor but deserving students of Davao del Norte’s second district.
Half of the amount he would get if he wins the case would go for the scholarship fund for college students, while students enrolled in accredited vocational schools shall benefit from the other half, Floirendo said.
Floirendo filed a five-page P15-million libel case against Alvarez, his former friend from District 1, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The case stemmed from Alvarez’s accusation that the name Floirendo has allegedly become synonymous with “land grabber.”
