Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police entered into service more than 17,000 of its next-generation firearms mostly made in Israel and Turkey.

In a ceremony in Camp Crame Wednesday, the PNP bared its newly-acquired equipment under its Capability Enhancement Program.

These include 8,170 units of caliber 5.56mm Galil Ace 22N assault rifle; 4,933 units 5.56 Emtan assault rifles; 1,920 Masada striker fired 9-mm pistola and Negev light machine guns in 7.62mm caliber (231 units) and 5.56mm (320 units).

Also acquired were 10,000 units of the Turkish-made Canik TP9SF Elite-S 9mm pistol, which is gaining popularity in the United States.

Eleazar congratulated the promotees and their families and conveyed his expectations from them to be of help to the NCRPO in achieving more success and accomplishments particularly in Internal Cleansing Program and campaign against criminality and illegal drugs.

He also emphasized that the Internal Cleansing Program was not just about getting rid of the misdeeds and scalawags. Rather, it was about pride in the uniform.

“It is more about on creating a culture of pride and respect, a culture of efficiency and dedication to work,” he said.

Last week, Eleazar was also given his two-star rank in Camp Crame by his predecessor and now Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde after President Rodrigo Duterte granted the recommendation of the National Police Commission to promote him to his next higher rank of Police Director.

Eleazar expressed his gratitude to the people behind his success and dedicated his success to everyone.

He said he took his promotion as both a blessing and a responsibility in a more empowered capacity and vowed to remain steadfast and committed to the zeal of excellence, professionalism, integrity and teamwork.

Eleazar also solicited continuous support and cooperation of the public, stakeholders, local government units, and partner government agencies in order to meet the expectations of everyone as he believe that success in all police undertakings can be achieved only if everyone will be working hand-in-hand.

He committed to intensify the campaigns and programs of the NCRPO particularly Internal Cleansing, and war against illegal drugs and criminality.
