Del Rosario, Olaivar top BWC finals

National athlete Liza del Rosario and Nicco Olaivar topped the list of first center finalists as the 2018 Bowling World Cup competition unwrapped in 14 different keg centers.

Del Rosario carded a 10-game series of 2137 pinfalls at Coronado (Starlanes) to show the way for 23 other initial finalists in the ladies’ division.

Olaivar rolled 2581 in 12 games to pace the first 40 men’s finalists.

Another set of men’s and ladies’ finalists from the second center finals will advance to the national championship scheduled on September 29 and 30 and October 3 and 5 in three different venues — Coronado Lanes, Superbowl and Paeng’s Eastwood Bowl.

Rachelle Leon emerged as the No. 2 ladies’ center finalist with 1919, with Rochalle Munsayac taking third spot at 1850.

Scott Uy landed second in the men’s division with 2475, followed by veteran Raoul Miranda (2445), former national kegler Paulo Valdez (2422), Maurhic Padawan (2403), RJay Magana (2365) and Manny Amparo (2347).

The other early finalists are:

Ladies — Jo Anne Bonifacio, Mykee Creencia, Soledad Lorna Magabo, Leanie Amparo,Yolly Floralde, Corazon Sangil, Cita Yumul, Erlinda Afos, Melody Bangsi-il, Winnie Kilito, Gina Varilla, Sherry Ann Cruz, Cindy Edquilane, Pure Anselmo, Alyssa dela Rosa, Jill Odulio, Allen Joy Laigo, Vanessa Pabalan, Lorna Misa, Faye Piol and Arlena Bucao.

Men — Art Gamolo, Larry Tinio, Edan Enriquez, Simple Villajin, Rey Tejano,Cesar Perez, Alex Santos, Caloy Guitones, Benedicto Aquino, Rudante Unay, Jerry Bugtong, Norman Lising, July Vargas, Don Evangelista, Paul Sia, Rolly Magana, Jomin Wong, Merwin Tan, Kenzo Umali, Kurt Mendoza, Jansen Collantes, Nino Pabalan, Kayle Abad, Joe Cabactulan, James Tiu, Toti Daval Santos, Angel Dilig, Carl Lim, Allen Laigo, Wilson Sua, Rolendo Sumuelo, Joel Guevarra and Don Tungala.

The men’s and ladies’ national champions will earn the right to represent the Philippines in the International Bowling World Cup slated at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas on Nov. 4-11, this year.

Last year, the Philippines’ Krizziah Tabora emerged World Cup ladies’ champion in the internationals in Hermosillo, Mexico.
