A blazing start gave Alaska the cushion it needed as it mercilessly routed ailing TNT KaTropa, 125-96, to stay hot in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.
Simon Enciso scored 22 of his career-high 30 points in the first half to backstop the Aces in their torching start that ultimately decided the outcome.
Enciso fired nine triples as he had an astounding night shooting the ball, turning in a 10-of-13 clip.
Mike Harris had another double-double to help Alaska, producing 16 points and 24 points, while Vic Manuel scored 18 and Chris Banchero added 15.
Right off the bat, Alaska carved a gigantic 22-point bubble, 35-13, at the end of one.
That proved to be the story of the game as TNT woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was unable to put up a decent fight.
By the end of the first half, Alaska’s lead was already up to 68-29 as the game was already beyond reach at the turn.
The Aces, led by Enciso, already had four players in double-digits at halftime.
The Aces have now won their second straight win in as many games to seize early lead of the tournament with its 2-0 card.
As for the Tropang Texters, the slide continued as they lost their second straight to drop to 1-3, near the bottom.
Stacey Davis led TNT KaTropa with 26 points and 12 boards for a double-double.
