Mayor John Rey Tiangco expressed his appreciation to all volunteers who helped provide Navoteños with potable water during the unexpected water interruptions last week.
Tiangco, together with Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo and some city councilors, distributed certificates of appreciation to volunteer firefighters and rescue groups. Among those given recognition were Phantom Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Daanghari Fire Destroyer, NBBN Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Batas Fire and Rescue Volunteers, WestNav Fire and Rescue Volunteers, and Nabcom Fire and Rescue Volunteer.
Also commended were Tanza Fire Hawk, Venom Fire and Rescue Volunteers, San Roque Fire Brigade, Delta Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Defender Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Malabon Fil-Chi Fire Volunteers, and NavFire Fire and Rescue Volunteer.
The city government also extended its appreciation to Taguig Rescue, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Road Emergency Group, and Valenzuela Bureau of Fire Protection.
“We are grateful for our volunteers for their tireless services and genuine desire to help Navoteños. It is in times of hardship that we see the spirit of bayanihan alive,” Tiangco said.
Meanwhile, the city government also sent a contingent to Marikina to assist in the latter’s clean-up efforts.
Under the command of Councilor Neil Cruz and organized by Navotas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, four volunteer groups went Sunday to Marikina to help in its flushing operation.
Members of the contingent included Delta Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Phantom Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Daanghari Fire Destroyer, and Malabon Fil-Chi Fire Volunteers.
