Marking another milestone

Mark Herras celebrates his 13th year in showbiz with an exclusive contract that he signed with GMA Network on Aug. 16.

Looking back on his humble beginnings as the first Starstruck Ultimate Male Survivor, Mark feels grateful that his home network has been supportive of him since.

“I am confident to say that I will be with GMA for the rest of my life, if possible. GMA gave me the opportunity to do things I love as an actor, help my family and have a better life…so 'yung loyalty ko talaga is with GMA.”

The actor who was once called the Bad Boy of the Dance Floor still has a lot of things up his sleeve. He enjoys having character roles, since it hones him further as an artist. “It started in The Cure yung kontrabida roles, so most of the roles that I’mgoing to play in the future are gray and baddy roles. Mas challenging gawin, at doon ko kasi mas kayang laruin yung karakter sa screen,” Mark added.

GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon commended the loyalty of the Kapuso star, “Well, I remember Mark as one of the first winners of Starstruck. Original yan. That’s why he’s really home-grown. And I am very glad that he’s succeeding in his craft.”

GMA Entertainment Group Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable reveals that the actor will be seen on primetime soon. She also noted that Mark expressed his interest in doing character roles, “We see him develop as an actor, that’s why we are happy. So we want to give him more challenging roles. We’re glad because he is able to stretch his abilities and it shows his maturity and his growth as an artist, and he’s willing to tackle not only good boy roles but also a wider range of roles.”
