While the National team continues to fight in the Asian Games, the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup rolls anew.

League-leader NLEX (2-0) shoots for a third straight win today when it faces debuting Magnolia at 7 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Several hours prior, Calvin Abueva makes his much-awaited Phoenix debut as the Fuel Masters collide with Columbian Dyip at 4:30 p.m. to open the show.

Enjoying one of the franchise’s best starts, the Road Warriors are looking to keep the ball rolling.

“We’re off to a great start. The players are stepping up for each other and we’re looking to capitalize on that,” said stand-in NLEX coach Jojo Lastimosa, who is currently calling the shots for the team as head coach Yeng Guiao is taking care of National team duties in Indonesia.

Over the opening weekend of the tournament, NLEX swiftly racked up two straight victories in consecutive playdates against sister team TNT KaTropa and NorthPort, respectively.

The Road Warriors look to continue their surge against the Hotshots and their returning import Romeo Travis.

After getting shipped by Alaska two weeks ago in exchange for Karl De Hesa and a future first-round pick, Abueva now stares at a fresh start at Phoenix.

While the Fuel Masters play their first game, Columbian Dyip will try to bounce back from its opening day loss against Meralco.
