NPA admits killing Isabela village chief, says victim a ‘military asset’

Bacolod City—The New People’s Army has claimed responsibility over the death of village chief Rhoy Pagapang of Barangay Libas in Isabela, Negros Occidental on Monday.

The Leonardo Panaligan Command-Central Negros Guerrilla Front, in a statement released to the local media Monday night, said the 38-year-old barangay captain was a “military asset.”

The rebel group said they have been warning Pagapang for his actions since they included him in their hit list in 2016.

Pagapang, a second term village chief, was shot to death by four unidentified men beside a sugarcane field in the neighboring Barangay Cabcab around 10 am on Monday.
