Recede was among 56 graduates of her school who were taking the two-day exams for the first time and made it, giving San Carlos, a private, Catholic and research university—the biggest in Cebu with all five campuses combined—a 100-percent passing average.

Recede’s classmate, Danixzyle Savilleno Cutamora, placed 8th with a rating of 90.88.

The date of the oathtaking of the new pharmacists will be announced later, according to the Professional Regulation Commission, which conducted the second board examinations this year.

Recede, a former Dean’s Lister of her school and three-term news editor of Today’s Carolinian, USC’s university publication, was awarded 1st place in the 2018 New York Times Journalist Training Camp conducted nationwide earlier this year.

She is the daughter of Ponciano Recede of Lipa City, Batangas and the former Mary Jane Cabie of Minglanilla, Cebu, and granddaughter of Florencio B. Cabie, former accountant of Paper Industries Corporation in Mangagoy, Bislig, Surigao del Sur, of Pinili, Ilocos Norte, and the former Vicenta Tampos, a retired public school teacher.
