Mixing food and politics on ANC’s ‘Food Diplomacy’

Seasoned broadcast journalist Annalisa Burgos takes viewers around the world right here in Manila as she sits down with foreign ambassadors to discuss politics, culture, and food in the comfort of their homes in Food Diplomacy.

Colombia ambassador Victor Hugo Echeverri, shows Annalisa Burgos a showcase of Colombia’s cuisine with chef Alejandro Cuellar.

The segment, which airs every Friday during Early Edition on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, gives viewers a chance to learn about other food cultures and understand historical ties with other countries, as Burgos converses with foreign dignitaries from countries such as United Kingdom, United States of America, France, and the United Arab Emirates in an informal setting away from the newsroom.

“Food makes politics and foreign affairs fun,” said Burgos. “Everyone loves food, but not everyone knows what the governments of other countries are doing in the Philippines and the role they play in local economies.”

Annalisa, who used to host an international food travel series, said she hopes to engage people by featuring food in her segment and make them aware of global issues in the process.

On the next episodes, viewers can also look forward to joining Burgos for a cooking lesson with the Thai Charge d’affaires and interviews with the ambassadors of Colombia and Morocco.
