The Philippine Sports Commission Board of Commissioners agreed on Wednesday that expenses of all national athletes and teams participating in the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia will be shouldered by the sports agency.
A PSC insider confirmed that “yes, bridge, basketball and volleyball will be covered.”
It will be remembered that in previous discussions between PSC and the Philippine Olympic Committee, the aforementioned sports were to pay their own way.
The PSC will shoulder airfare, parade and competition uniforms, track suits, luggage, accommodation and other related expenses of the athletes. The training and exposure expenses of participating national athletes were also taken cared of by the PSC. A total of 272 athletes plus coaches and officials comprise the country’s delegation to the quadrennial event to be held this this year in Jakarta and Palembang Indonesia.
