The Coco Martin starrer FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has kept its position as the country’s top television series after its outstanding performance in the numbers game.
In the ratings data gathered by Kantar Media, the action drama pulled in 42.8 percent rating enough for it to keep its reign as the most watched program in July, followed by weekend program Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids32.8 percent.
Monday last week, the Kapamilya primetime series recorded a national TV rating of 42.4 percent, on par with its daily average, in both rural and urban homes, or more than double the 20 percent logged by its newest primetime rival Victor Magtanggol.
Joining Probinsyano in the top ten were TV Patrol (30.7 percent), Bagani (29.3 percent), MMK (28.6 percent), Wansapanataym (25.2 percent), Home Sweetie Home (23.5 percent), and Rated K (20.4 percent).
Meanwhile, talking about nationwide viewership, more Filipinos turned to ABS-CBN for news and values-laden stories as it recorded an average audience share of 44 percent, or an eleven-point lead over GMA’s 33 percent (again according to data from Kantar Media).
The Kapamilya network ruled in both rural and urban homes, particularly in Metro Manila with an average audience share of 42 percent, compared to GMA’s 28 . ABS-CBN likewise led in Total Luzon with 39 versus GMA’s 37 ; in Total Visayas with 51 , compared to GMA’s 26 ; and in Total Mindanao with 53 , while GMA only got 26 .
Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percentof the total Philippine TV viewing population.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also triumphed across all time blocks, particularly the primetime block as it garnered an average audience share of 47 percent, or 14-point lead against GMA’s 33 . The primetime block is the most important time of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investments in to reach more consumers effectively.
The Kapamilya network also led the morning block (6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) with an average audience share of 39 percent versus GMA’s 30 ; the noontime block (12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.) with 43 , compared to GMA’s 33 ; and the afternoon block (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) with 42 , beating GMA’s 36 .
