Police officials said the suspect just came from a family vacation from Bohol when arrested by the authorities.

Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta, chief of the CIDG-National Capital Region, confirmed the arrest of Sun at the Naia airport last Saturday.

He said the suspect was released after posting bail.

Sun was arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 91 for five counts of estafa, arising from misappropriations charges.

Police quoted court documents as alleging Sun and his fellow officers at the Merchandise Distributors Inc.—Donelcio A. Ong, Rosario Dy Sun and Siu Hun Hao Tan—misappropriated the cash dividends of the late J. Victory Dy Sun for the years 2011 to 2015 amounting to P4.475,900.00.

Merchandise Distributors Inc. is a distributor of Yakult products.

The Financial State of Merchandise Distributors Inc. showed that for the years 2011 to 2015 the cash dividends were already distributed to all the stockholders on record including the late J. Victory Dy Sun though the latter apparently never received his cash dividends.

Aside from the five counts of estafa, the suspect Sun was also facing two other counts of estafa before QCRTC Branch 97.

The two cases of estafa stemmed from the apparent acts of Alberto Dy Sun in getting the two checks of the late Vicente Dy Sun Sr. from the treasury of Yakult Philippines, Inc. and reportedly deposited the same in his personal joint account with Normal Edita Dy Sun-Ong.

Police reports said the suspect got access to the said checks as he was still the president of Yakult Philippines.

An attempt to solicit a response from Alberto Dy Sun on the said allegations proved futile.
