At least 10 Chinese fugitives wanted in their country for economic crimes, Internet fraud and smuggling will be immediately deported after their arrest in Metro Manila and Pampanga, the Bureau of Immigration said Friday.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said that the arrested Chinese nationals are now detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
BI Intelligence Officer Bobby Raquepo, who heads the Bureau’s fugitive search unit, said the Chinese nationals’ passports were already canceled, and have become undocumented aliens subject to summary deportation.
He said the seven Chinese were arrested on July 18 during a raid in a condominium unit along Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
They were identified as Li Tian Feng, Duan Tingting, Li Miao, Zou Wang, Zhang Hailong, Wang Liao, and Huang Zongyou, and wanted in China for economic crimes and cyber fraud that victimized many of their compatriots.
On July 19, BI agents arrested a Chinese woman named Cai Miao Ling inside her unit at the Tuscany Private Residences in McKinley Hills, Taguig City.
Last July 17, FSU agents and airport anti-smuggling operatives arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport a certain Wang Xiaobo, who is a subject of an Interpol red notice for his involvement in smuggling.
Also arrested was Ji Jingxiu who was apprehended on July 22 along the Friendship Highway in Angeles City, Pampanga. He is also wanted for cyber fraud and economic crimes.
“There will be no letup in the BI’s campaign to catch foreign fugitives so long as there are aliens who go to the Philippines to avoid arrest and punishment for crimes they committed in their homelands,” Morente said.
“We are in close coordination with our foreign counterparts to ensure that justice will be served,” he added.
