Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has launched “Tapang at Malasakit Alliance” in Quezon City, following the renewal of a sister city agreement with Mayor Herbert Bautista, along with Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Held at the Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City, the launch was attended by Quezon City councilors, city officials, and representatives of various groups of overseas Filipino workers, solo parents, women, youth, senior citizens and even tricycle operators.

“If you remember, we launched ‘Tapang at Malasakit’ when President [Rodrigo] Duterte ran in 2016. Those were his core values—courage and compassion,” the younger Duterte said.

She said when her father assumed the presidency, the various members of the alliance had overlooked the original reason why they supported his candidacy.

“All of his volunteers have already forgotten the reason why we supported his presidential candidacy. We want real change,” she added.

In introducing the movement to the city’s constituents, Belmonte said, ‘Ang Tapang at Malasakit’ movement is encouraging volunteerism to serve the people.

On July 23 in the morning, Bautista and Belmonte welcomed Duterte and other dignitaries from Davao in a landmark renewal of sister city ties that was first signed by then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and then Quezon City mayor Ismael Mathay in 1994.
