GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp., the private operator, and manager of Mactan-Cebu International Airport said it expects to meet the 11.2 million passenger traffic target this year after opening Terminal 2, the country’s first resort airport.
GMCAC said in a statement the Mactan-Cebu International Airport handled 5.76 million passengers in the first half of the year, a 12.5-percent increase from 5.12 million year-on-year.
Air traffic movement also grew 12.9 percent to 49,843 flights this year from 44,165 flights on year.
The MCIA recorded 3.76 million domestic passengers in the first six months of 2018, up 10 percent, while international traffic grew 17.5 percent to 1.89 million passengers.
Peak domestic passenger traffic was recorded in May with 760,000 passengers. Peak international traffic, meanwhile was registered recorded during the months of January, February, May, and June with a monthly average of 320,000 passengers.
