President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a fraternity brother from the San Beda University-based Lex Talionis Fraternitas, as Comelec commissioner.
The Palace announced on Friday that former Justice undersecretary Antonio Kho was appointed last July 11, but his appointment paper was only released last Friday.
Kho will take the post vacated by then commissioner and now Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas. Kho will serve until 2022.
The appointment of Kho completed the seven-man Commission on Elections.
Kho was among the three Justice undersecretaries that submitted their resignation letters when Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra took over the reins of Justice department, replacing then Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre who resigned for several bungled cases.
Duterte earlier appointed a hometown friend in ex-Court of Appeals Associate Justice Socorro Inting to the poll body.
Abas and Inting’s appointment were confirmed by the powerful Commission on Appointments in May.
