The new Muntinlupa Animal Pound is a 405-sq. m. facility with six kennel cages, 35 single cages, one surgery room, one euthanasia room, a storage room, and a foyer, which will serve as a receiving room for clients.

MAP aims to foster One Welfare, which promotes the care and well-being of abandoned, abused and neglected animals, and the health and safety of the human community in general.

Canine and animal welfare advocates attending the program were: Philippine Veterinary Medical Association President Dr. Joy Santos, K9 Volunteers Corp.’s Beulah Amanda Aquino, Bureau of Animal Industry – Rabies Focal Person Dr. Minnie Lopez, and BAI Luzon Rabies Coordinator Dr. Noverlee P. Calub.

BAI Rabies Focal Person Dr. Minnie Lopez lauded the opening of the City Animal Pound and said that MAP will serve as a model facility to local government units in the country.

BAI is set to host officials from Kenya and plans to direct the delegates to the local animal pound for benchmarking.

PVAM president Dr. Joy Santos also cited the new animal pound facility as state of the art and congratulated the City Government for the construction of MAP.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Fresnedi extended his gratitude to taxpayers and said that their timely remittance of taxes contributed to the delivery of quality public projects.

City Veterinarian Dr. Pam Hernandez said the local government will focus on the rehabilitation of the animals turned over to the local pound for adoption. She added that rehabilitated animals will also be trained for search and rescue operations.
