“We want all the sectors in the community to participate in the activities, so they can appreciate it,” Eusebio said in an interview during the festivities.

Along with Rep. Ricky Eusebio and Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo, the mayor led thousands of Pasigueños in a grand parade that opened the celebrations.

The city government closed major roads to give way to the parade and asked drivers to take alternate routes instead.

A showcase of the respective festivals by the city’s 30 barangays followed the parade in a dance competition held at M. Eusebio Quadrangle.

Pahiyas sa Pasig Organic Harvest Festival was also held on Caruncho Avenue, Brgy. San Nicolas, while discounts were offered to Pasigueños on a Mega Wide Sale of various establishments starting from 6 am.

To ensure participation in the events, Malacañang released Proclamation No. 523, declaring July 2 as a special non-working holiday in Pasig City.

Eusebio said the city council is working for the benefit of their constituents but underscored the importance of participation in the programs.

“We are here to help and to advance the interests of our city, but we need support, too,” he said.

Different activities such as medical and dental missions, tree-planting activities and a photo tilt would also be held next week on various barangays.

Pasig was established as a municipality on July 2, 1572 and was officially converted into a city on 1994.
