TS Florita seen inducing rain in MM, Luzon

TROPICAL cyclone “Florita” has intensified into a severe tropical storm with its center estimated at 725 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Florita is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph, and was moving north at 17 kph.

The weather bureau said the storm will bring occasional heavy rain to Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The storm has left the Philippine area of responsibility but will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon.

Weathermen said rain will prevail over Palawan, the Mindoro provinces, Romblon and Western Visayas.

The residents in these areas were warned against possible flash floods and landslides.
