Pauline del Rosario stumbled with late bogeys and fell short of her final round rally, finishing with a 71 and ending up joint eighth in the Ladies European Tour’s Thailand Championship won by Thai Kanyalak Preedasuttijit at the Phoenix Golf and Country Club’s Mountain Ocean course in Pattaya late Sunday.
Del Rosario, who grabbed a share of the second round lead with a 67 but fell off the leaderboard with a 74 Friday, tried to charge back from seven down with three birdies after 12 holes. But the reigning Ladies Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit champion bogeyed the next two and settled for pars to close out with a 34-37.
Her six-under 282 total was nine shots behind Preedasuttijit, who shot a 69 and held off a rallying Korean amateur Selin Hyun and won by one on a 273 total.
Hyun fired a bogey-free 65 but ran out of holes to force a playoff. She finished second at 274 while another Thai, Chonlada Chayanun wound up third at 278 after a 69.
Over in Symetra Tour, Dottie Ardina shot a two-under 70 but could only move to joint 21st in the second round of the Island Resort Championship paced by Taiwanese Ssu-Chia Cheng in Michigan Saturday.
Ardina, who had two runner-up finishes in recent weeks, gunned down five birdies but fumbled with three bogeys, settling for a 37-33 card for a 141, six shots behind Cheng, who carded a 66 for a 135 and a one-stroke lead over American Esther Lee, who made a 71.
Mia Piccio, who turned in an impressive 69 in the first round, hit five birdies but made four bogeys and a double bogey for a 73. She dropped to joint 36th at 142 with compatriot Clariss Guce, who rallied with a 68.
