Two kings team up in MMFF entry

Coco Martin couldn’t hide his excitement with his upcoming project with Vic Sotto, which is intended for this year’s edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival.

According to the Ang Probinsyano star, they have already talked about the team-up and it went fine.

“I’m very vocal in saying that doing a movie opposite Bossing is part of my bucket list. Now, it’s a dream-come-true and I’m very happy,” says Coco.

The award-winning actor admits to being a fan of the senior comedian ever since.

“Oh yes! Even in my younger days, I’ve been watching his films along with Sen. Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon. TVJ are my idols. They’re tops when it comes to comedy. So it’s a huge honor and privilege to work with Bossing in a silver screen project. I’m really excited,” the actor shares his excitement.

With this development, it’s inevitable that he and close friend Vice Ganda will be in a collision course once again at the 2018 MMFF box-office just like what happened last year when his entry Ang Panday was pitted against Vice’s Gandarrapido:The Revenger Squad.

“To be honest, it’s no issue for me and Vice. We share the same viewpoint: it’s just work. We’re here to entertain our supporters. Actually, all entries in the annual film festival should not fight but help one another instead. For one, it’s good for the industry especially at Christmas time.”

Speaking of Vice, Coco extends his warm congratulations to his friend for bagging the Dolphy Comedy King award in the recent FAMAS rites.

“I’m happy for him. He really worked hard to get to his present stature. I witnessed all his hard work and dedication to his craft. Even during those times when we weren’t in showbiz yet, we already knew each other.”

There are those who question his choice for said recognition.

“It’s their opinion but for me, Vice is truly deserving of such accolade. It’s a fitting reward for all the exemplary efforts he exerted to get to where he is now. As I’ve said, I’m happy for him now that many appreciate his contribution to the field,” ends Coco.

Dingdong Dantes is so elated with the box-office triumph of his latest movie opposite Anne Curtis titled Sid and Aya, which has reportedly reached the P160 million mark as of now.

“I’m thankful to the public for patronizing the movie,” he states. “It’s just overwhelming! Looking back, we had apprehensions in doing it. For one, it wasn’t the usual formula. The story-telling is different.

Dingdong Dantes glad that his movie 'Sid & Aya' did well and that he's back on TV with a docu called 'Amazing Earth.'

“Evidently, the risk was there. The good thing is it paid off. It’s like you gambled on something and you hit the jackpot. It wasn’t easy to offer it to the movie-going public who are used to formula films. We’re simply thankful that they still liked our offering’s newness in concept.”

Talks are rife that Star Cinema is cooking up a project he and Vice Ganda will star in, probably a potential entry to the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival.

“Is that so? I don’t have any idea about it. I wasn’t told yet. But it will be very interesting if ever.”

Meanwhile, he has a new show over at mother network GMA titled Amazing Earth.

“It’s an informative show actually. I’m deeply honored that the management gave it to me because it’s about the beauty of our environment. But apart from this, I will have a new soap opera by August but its details I can’t divulge now,” says Dong.
