We have made great strides to understand the mysteries around us, but the more we discover Earth’s magnificence, the more we learn that this place we call home is just kind of strange. The Earth is much more bizarre than we thought.
In a program called Planet Earth II, an utterly stunning nature documentary by British Broadcasting Company (BBC), the crew used a variety of sneaky ways to capture footage of very rare animals. The gorgeously filmed nature documentary shows clips from the absurd circle of life—plants growing, insects feeding, prey hiding, and predators hunting, to name a few.
These stunning clips, filmed over three years in 40 countries in Ultra HD, which also showcases spectacular footage from the centers of crowded cities to the most remote mountaintops, are what we are going to see in GMA’s newest infotainment program Amazing Earth beginning June 17.
Presented by Dingdong Dantes, the program showcases the unseen beauty of planet Earth featuring the BBC award-winning series.
The first Planet Earth series was the most expensive nature documentary series ever commissioned by the BBC and also the first to be filmed in high definition. It received multiple awards, including four Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and an award from the Royal Television Society.
It aired in 2006 in the United Kingdom on BBC One, and by June 2007 had been shown in 130 countries. The original version was narrated by David Attenborough, while some international versions used alternative narrators. Hence, Dantes doing the hosting job for the Philippine presentation of the series.
While featuring extraordinary and exceptional wildlife from all over the world, Dantes will also bring the audience to different places in the Philippines—from its natural formations and all types of terrains to its fascinating flora and fauna.
“I love to travel. In my every destination, I always discover that we still have a lot of things to learn and explore about how beautiful this planet is. That’s why in this show, expect me to be part of the journey of every viewer—that in every episode, I will be learning side-by-side with them,” Dantes said in a press launch on Wednesday.
He further said the show enables him to unlock his adventurous side.
A show for all ages, the program presents amazing wildlife stories using ultra-high definition cameras, remote recording, and aerial drone technology.
Dingdong—being an advocate of education, youth development, and protection of the environment—is proud that the show highlights how everyone should properly treat and protect the people, animals, and our planet.
“I’m happy while doing this, I realized how it teaches me the value of respect—for the people, the animals, and our planet. In the complexities of this current world, we should all find this balance wherein we could all co-exist and live as how we were all designed,” he stated.
Amazing Earth is helmed by Rico Gutierrez. It premieres on Sunday after 24 Oras Weekend on GMA-7.
