Go scores 44, carries Kamao to 1st triumph in UNTV Cup

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go scored 44 points, highlighted by five 3-point shots to carry the Malacañang-PSC Kamao to its first win, a 105-79 victory over the GSIS Thunder Furies in the UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center.

With his career-high performance, Go was hailed as the Best Player of the Game.

“Salamat at naka-tsamba po kami for our very first win in the Executive Season. Masaya po ako, ang daming fans ng UNTV na nandito na napa-pump-up and team namin. Congratulations din po sa UNTV management, kay Kuya Daniel Razon, sa napakagandang ideya. At least, nakakalaro po namin lahat ng heroes ng gobyerno,” Go said.

Meanwhile, the Senate Sentinels were handed their first loss as the Ombudsman Graft Busters pummel them with their tight defense en route to a 66-51 win.

“Ang ginawa lang namin is we adjusted doon sa trap nila. Ina-anticipate ko na gagawin nila ‘yun sa amin. So siguro nakita nila hindi nagwo-work, hinintuan nila kaya kami in return ibinalik lang namin ‘yung ginagawa nila,” said Graft Busters’ head coach Ricky Alcantara

Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go is heavily guarded by Officer Romeo De Luna Jr. (8) and VP Leopoldo Casion (10).

“We got outrebounded, siguro 15 plus din. ‘Yun ng naging difference, so sa offensive rebounds na makuha nila, the more chances of scoring. Doon kami nagkaroon ng lapses sa rebounding,” said Senate coach Mike Fermin.

Hailed as the Best Player of the Games were Director Nikki Laure with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and Atty. Armando Sanchez Jr. with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

In another game, the PNP Responders remained undefeated after beating the DOJ Justice Boosters, 90-59.

PSupt Joel De Mesa led the policemen with 22 points, 5 rebounds, an assist and a steal, together with PCSupt Philip Philips’ 18 points, 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal.

De Mesa and Philips shared the Best Player of the Game honors.
