Resorts World Manila (RWM), through its foundation the Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation (RWPCHFI), formally turned over on Friday the newly-constructed 42-classroom Mandaluyong Addition Hills Elementary School to the City of Mandaluyong.

In attendance from the local government of Mandaluyong City were Congresswoman Queenie Gonzales and former Congressman Boyet Gonzales, Mayor Menchie Abalos and former Mayor Benhur Abalos, Vice Mayor Anthony Suva, Sr., city councilors, barangay captains, and officials.

Representing RWM were its President and Chief Executive Officer Kingson Sian and Chief Legal and Corporate Services Officer Atty. Georgina Alvarez.

Also in attendance were PAGCOR Senior Vice President Atty. Edwin Bermudez, PAGCOR Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility Group Jimmy Bondoc, and DepEd Mandaluyong Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Losaria. School officials, teachers, parents, and students were also present at the ceremony.

“This is the sixth school donated by the Resorts World Foundation, bringing to 170 the total number of classrooms that we have donated around the Philippines. We have always believed that the ultimate investment is in supporting the youth, the future professionals, and leaders of this country,” said Sian.

In line with RWM’s commitment to promote environmental sustainability, the green building compliant school’s toilets utilize less water than conventional ones allowing efficiency through the use of low flow faucets in lavatories. Sufficient external shading is provided by concrete ledges and aluminum, with operable child-safe windows that allow for a high volume of fresh air and ventilation. Rainwater harvesting and the use of local plant species around the campus make Mandaluyong Addition Hills Elementary School among the most eco-friendly educational institutions in the country today.

“We thank the City of Mandaluyong and its officials for generously allocating the land on which the school has been built. We also thank PAGCOR for its continuous guidance and support, and the Department of Education, including its teachers and non-teaching personnel for patiently molding our youth to become productive citizens of our country,” added Sian.

The RWPCHFI was incorporated to contribute to nation building by engaging in community activities for charitable, educational, cultural, artistic, and scientific purposes.
