More and more abandoned, neglected, sick or hurt dogs and cats are found on the streets of Metro Manila and provinces like Cavite, Bulacan, Pangasinan, La Union, among others. They are rescued by animal welfare (AW) groups and concerned citizens or private rescuers.
AW groups and rescuers now face two challenges: funds for medical treatment and maintenance care of rescued pets and space in their shelters, sanctuary or fosters' homes.
Animal lovers have been donating funds and AW groups and rescuers are grateful for the much-needed help.
But to rescue more, they also need adopters.
If you have love overflowing in you and your family and can commit to a lifetime of caring for another being, the best way to help is to adopt a pet.
Dogs in shelters are beautiful and loving, sweet and loyal. Please contact animal welfare groups. They have pages in Facebook and can be contacted easily.
AW groups make sure the pets are vaccinated, dewormed, given heartworm prevention and tick-free. They also release the rescued pet spayed or neutered if he/she is not a pup. All AW groups are for controlling animal population in the country to hopefully reduce substantially the number of abandoned pets who will end up as strays or in pounds where they die slowly (no-kill pound) or are put to sleep (kill pound). .
There is an adoption fee which hardly covers the expenses of AW groups for the rescue, treatment and maintenance care of the rescued pet.
Save Animals of Love and Light (Save ALL) is one such animal welfare group.
Save ALL has dogs and cats, pups and kittens up for adoption. In the photos are some of the "adoptables," meaning they are vaccinated, socialized, and spayed or neutered if adults.
For more details on adopting a rescued pet, please contact Save ALL admins Maricel Mondejar, Joanne Zamora, Raycyn Enriquez- Abad or Julie Rodriguez in Facebook or go to the FB pages of Save ALL and send a message.
