NCRPO forms team to monitor erring cops

The National Capital Region Police Office on Tuesday formed a special team tasked to inspect and monitor the deployment and utilization of personnel in Metro Manila in line with the government’s campaign against erring policemen.

NCRPO chief Camilo Cascolan said the new group dubbed as Special Team of Regional Inspectors and Key Evaluators will randomly validate and evaluate the deployment of police personnel.

He added that Strike team will also conduct drug testing during inspection in support of the directive of Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde’s intensified internal cleansing drive.

“The team’s positive remarks will be credited for recognition and awards while any negative remarks will be used for disciplinary  sanctions or even dismissal of erring police personnel,” said Cascolan.

Cascolan said he is confident that the team will serve as both motivation and caution to the NCRPO policemen as it aims to recognize the good deeds and sanction the bad.

The NCRPO chief tapped Senior Supt. Benjamin Acorda, head of the Regional Intelligence Division, as Strike team leader.

The team will be composed of three members from the office of the RID, Regional Operations Division , Regional Personnel Records and Management Division, and representatives from Crime Laboratory.

“Strike will be inspecting police stations, police precincts, police offices and units anytime soon,” said Cascolan.

Cascolan said earlier he will never tolerate any misdeeds of police officers and warned that chiefs of police will also suffer the consequence if they do not take full responsibility over their personnel.

Last month, Cascolan ordered the relief and the filing of criminal and administrative complaint against the three policemen-brothers who confronted a man in his house following a traffic incident in Caloocan City.

The policemen were PO3 Ralph Soriano, assigned at the Northern Police District; and PO1 Rendel Soriano and PO1 Reniel Soriano, both members of the Drug Enforcement Group based in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Cascolan reminded all police officers that he has zero tolerance on erring, abusive and tardy policeman. He said the NCRPO is working overtime not just to fulfil his commitment but also to lead by example and be the encouragement of every policeman.

Last year, the NCRPO has dismissed from the service 158 Metro Manila policemen, suspended 625, demoted 38 and reprimanded nine others for their involvement in various illegal activities.

NCRPO records also showed that 724 administrative cases were also filed against 1,198 erring personnel.

The five district commanders in Metro Manila also enforced disciplinary sanctions to 1,302 policemen who transferred in floating status at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in 2017.

Three hundred thirty-four personnel were reassigned outside the NCRPO; 147 were subjected to Reorientation Program; and 1,094 Police Officers 1 were subjected to Orientation Program.
