The Philippine National Police is looking into filing criminal charges against people who may have coddled and helped Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog to escape from his homeland.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Director Roel Obusan said they already have the information and identities of Parojinog’s coddlers.

But he refused to name them as they were building a case against them.

Parojinog, brother of the late Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., was arrested last week by the Taiwan police where he remains under custody.

PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said he would be sending Obusan and PNP Drug Enforcement Group director Chief Supt. Albert Ignatius Ferro to Taiwan this week to coordinate with the Taiwan police to arrange Parojinog’s deportation.

The CIDG chief, meanwhile, confirmed that Parojinog had used the country’s backdoor when he fled to Taiwan but refused to comment on whether a Filipino-Chinese gambling lord was the one who had coddled him.

Parojinog was not in his house when the police conducted the raid on the family’s compound in July last year that resulted in the death of his brother and 15 others.

Policemen, however, seized shabu and drug paraphernalia, a shotgun, three rocket-propelled-grenade launchers, two hand grenades, and M79 ammunition from the councilor’s house.

The councilor went into hiding since then amid the lookout order issued by the Bureau of Immigration.

Earlier this month, authorities recovered various high-powered firearms, including two anti-tank rockets, during a raid on Parojinog’s closed business properties.

President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier offered a P5-million bounty for Parojinog’s capture.
