In a bid to improve health and safety in the location where it operates, Cemex Holdings Philippines supported the construction of the new Barangay Health Center in Barangay Tina-An in the City of Naga in Cebu.
Barangay Tina-An is the home of Cemex subsidiary APO Cement Corporation.
The Barangay Health Center serves as a lying-in facility for expectant mothers, it also offers services including pre-natal consultation, children’s immunization, and anti-drug use counseling. The building materials company also hired a doctor that comes in weekly to monitor the health of local residents and provide free consultation and free medicine.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the health center. According to Jocelyn Taray, head of the Barangay Health Workers, many patients are happy and thankful for the project that made healthcare more accessible to them in a spacious and clean environment.
