Paymaya hopes to cash in on its fine form and pounce on a skidding BanKo-Perlas side as it shoots for the solo lead in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today (Saturday).
The High Flyers currently share the top spot with the Creamline Cool Smashers and the surging BaliPure Water Defenders but are expected to seize control midway through the single round elims of the season-opening conference organized by Sports Vision.
Ranged against a team which lost all its next four games after a stunning win over Creamline, PayMaya is brimming with confident as it heads to its 4 p.m. clash with BanKo-Perlas.
Iriga-Navy, meanwhile, tries to check its two-game skid as it faces a resurgent PetroGazz at 2 p.m. of another explosive weekend twinbill in the tournament backed by Mikasa and Asics.
The Lady Oragons turned in an impressive opening game win over the Water Defenders but fell in ambush to the High Flyers and Pocari-Air Force Lady Warriors to drop to sixth while the Angels snapped their three-game skid with a five-set win over BanKo-Perlas.
Imports Tess Rountree and Shelby Sullivan are again expected to lead PayMaya’s charge along with local aces Aiko Urdas, Jerilli Malabanan and ace setter Jasmine Nabor while BanKo-Perlas has been drawing solid games from reinforcements Jutarat Montripila and Lakia Bright, who however couldn’t get the needed support from their locals.
Meanwhile, Army and PLDT tangle in the lone men’s match at 10 a.m. which can be viewed via streaming on www.sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream. The women’s matches, on the other hand, will be aired live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via streaming.
