Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco has urged beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program to be courteous and respectful towards constituents they will meet at the city hall.

In his speech during the orientation for the 32 GIP beneficiaries, Tiangco said most of those who go to the city hall need help and thus must be treated with utmost patience and respect.

“People come to us because they have problems and need help. We must be patient with them and give them due courtesy. We should also offer them the best service we could provide,” he said.

“You are fortunate to be given an opportunity to serve your fellow Navoteños. Nothing can compare to the joy and fulfillment you get from helping someone and making their life better,” he added.

GIP beneficiaries will work with the city government starting May 16 until November. Last year, 34 interns were assigned at different offices at the city hall.

The GIP is under the Department of Labor and Employment.

Navotas also has its three-month internship program run by the Navotas City Council for Youth and Development. Twenty Navoteños ages 20 to 25 had been chosen to work at the city hall or at the city courts.
