DAVAO CITY—The City Government will launch ‘Peace 911’ on Thursday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the Paquibato Elementary School in Paquibato District.
Peace 911, a comprehensive peace-building program for Paquibato District, was designed after months of consultations and meetings between the members of the communities and the Davao City Advisory Committee on Peace and Development (DC PEACE DEV).
The program includes components for agriculture, health, youth, women, security, Indigenous Peoples, and education.
In September 2017, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte created the Davao City Peace Local Committee (DC PEACE COM) to promote, encourage and facilitate joint, inclusive peacemaking and peace-building processes within Davao City.
The committee has since been reconstituted into the DC PEACE DEV through Executive Order No. 45 Series of 2017.
Since its creation, the peace committee has conducted listening sessions and workshops, initially with residents of barangays in Paquibato.
The objected was to thresh out issues, concerns and suggestions of the community regarding government programs.
It also aimed to determine how people in the government can respond to the needs of the people and empower communities to achieve peace and development.
