Davao region ranks 2nd as fastesh growing Philippine area

Davao Region ranked 2nd as the fastest-growing region in the entire country.

In a press conference at the Malacañan of the South located at Panacan this City, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque congratulated the Davaoeños for being one of the fastest-growing region.

In 2017, Davao Region grew by 10.9 percent due to its Industry sector, Agriculture, and many more.

“Davao Region ranked as the second fastest growing region in the country as it grew by 10.9 percent in 2017, backed by the positive growth of the Industry sector and by Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing sector,” Roque said.

In 2017, the fastest-growing industry in the region was Construction with 38.2 percent, followed by Manufacturing with 11.4 percent.

Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing also recorded a 1.7 percent growth due to the 1.9 percent recovery of the Agriculture and Forestry subsectors.

Roque said that the present administration will commit to further enhance the growth of the country within 7 to 8 percent this year due to the various programs of the government such as the build, build, build program.

 “We are hopeful that this target can be achieved through the full implementation of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Act [TRAIN], and the Build, Build, Build program that is expected to continue the growth momentum by inviting more investments, generating more jobs and delivering public service,” Roque said.

Based on the report of Asean +3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), the Philippines continue to be the growth leader in Asia.

Roque said that the AMRO reported that the Philippine Economy remains robust and is expected to grow by 6.8 percent in 2018 and 6.9 percent in 2019.

 “This is because of the buoyancy on the country’s exports and improvement in the budget execution,” he said.
