Aces crush Dyip, nail 2nd straight victory

IT WAS that kind of night for Alaska.

The Aces had their finest outing thus far, giving Columbian Dyip a reality check with a lopsided 134-103 dismantling in an amazing offensive display to win their second straight game in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The wealth was scattered for the Aces, but it was Vic Manuel who stood tallest.

Manuel continued to find his way back to his old, dominant ways, scattering a season-high 26 points and four rebounds, while frontcourt partner Antonio Campbell had a double-double of 22 points and 13 boards to spearhead the Aces’ attack.

Alaska improved to 2-1 to move in the upper echelon, while the Dyip fell to an even 2-2 mark.

The Aces shot an amazing 54 percent from the field with two more scoring in twin-digits, Nonoy Baclao with 12 and Abel Galliguez with 10.

Alaska’s Calvin Abueva barrels his way into Columbian Dyip’s Rashawn McCarthy in a PBA Commissioner’s Cup game won by the Aces, 134-103.

Firing from all cylinders in a definitive second-quarter outburst, the Aces hardly broke a sweat on their way to victory.

Alaska suddenly went berserk in the second, scoring 42 huge points while limiting Columbian to an abysmal nine-point production in the period.

Both the teams’ scoring output in the second were season highs and lows, respectively, in a quarter.

By halftime, the Aces were sitting on an insurmountable 73-37 spread. That was practically the game.

Alaska completely blew Columbian out of the building by handing it the worst beatdown in the tournament thus far.

John Fields led Columbian with monster game-highs of 39 points and 16 rebounds, leaving a good first impression despite the drubbing his team received.

The import though didn’t receive any support from his local teammates.
