THREE Army troops were killed while another was wounded in two separate attacks, one of which the military said was perpetrated by suspected New People’s Army guerrillas in Bukidnon and Cotabato City Monday alivend Tuesday.
Military reports said two of the slain soldiers were gunned down as they were returning to their company headquarters.
The other soldier was rendering livelihood assistance when ambushed by still unidentified armed men, the reports said.
Two of the slain soldiers, members of the 12th Special Forces Company based in Barangay Making, Parang Maguindanao, were identified as Private First Class Nelson Paimalan, 27 and Private Richard Bendanillo while the identity of the other soldier was temporary withheld.
Capt. Arvin John Encinas, spokesperson of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said Paimalan and Bendanillo were heading back to their barracks and while traversing Purok Rajamuda, MB Bagua, Cotabato City, four armed men aboard a Honda XRM shot them several times.

In Bukidnon, two unarmed soldiers on board a motorcycle were shot by undetermined number of NPA terrorists in Sitio Sto Domingo, Brgy Lumintao, Quezon town, killing one of the soldiers while wounding his companion.
Lt. Marisol Fulgosino, chief of the Civil Military Operations, said the two soldiers were tasked to gather necessary documents in supporting the residents for their livelihood assistance when fired upon by the NPAs.
