Lawyer Nole V. Lansangan, president of GUMIL Metro Manila in 1989-1990, the association of Ilocano writers in the National Capital Region, will be interred today in San Mateo, Isabela, five days after he died of intestinal stroke and septic shock, a spokesman for the family said.

The Tarlac-born former columnist of the Ilocano magazine Bannawag titled “Dear Atorni” left seven children by his first wife Prescila and three children by his second, Corazon, seven children-in-law and 14 grandchildren.

An alumnus of the Manuel Luis Quezon University college of law, Lansangan was once division chief of the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Department of Trade and Industry, which gave him the opportunity to attend trainings abroad as those in Malaysia, The Netherlands, Britain, and Germany.

During his term as president of the Ilocano writers in Metro Manila, one of the more active chapters of the national association which had at one point almost 3,000 members at home and overseas, members published an anthology of fiction and poetry.

At the turn of the century, he launched the Constancia V. Lansangan Literary Awards, in memory of his mother, where many won in short short stories, short short essays and novelettes.
