FORMER Philippine Olympic Committee chief Jose “Peping” Cojuangco jr. will stay on as president of the Equestrian Association of the Philippines.
Cojuangco won another term after he was named to the Equestrian Association of the Philippines board of trustees again and later reelected as its president last Thursday.
His daughter, Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski, International Olympic Committee representative, will sit as the vice president following polls, which were put under protest.
Karen Concepcion is the secretary general, while Janine Felix took the post of treasurer.
A group of equestrian athletes, led by Carissa Coscolluela said they are putting the proceedings under protest.
They have informed POC president Ricky Vargas of their intentions.
Coscolluela said they attended the the meeting but abstained in the voting on the basis that the election was conducted in clear violation of the by-laws of the EAP.
She said the laws stipulate that all members are entitled to vote.
“It is a right not a privilege and cannot be withdrawn or arbitrarily removed by a board. For the first time in years, attendance was high at the EAP Annual Meeting, signaling an increased interest in the future of the sport from amongst its stakeholders,” she said in a statement.
POC officials were informed that a number of members are filing an official protest with the POC in due time.
