WITH less than 2 months left, boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is just getting started.
Set to challenge Lucas Matthysse, Pacquiao is going easy on his training these days.
Looking calm and composed, the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing is focusing more on endurance with his early morning joggings.
“Maghahanda pa lang ako. Pero jogging, jogging muna,” said Pacquiao when he met French businessman Pascal Banet and local partner, former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson when they opened a sports retail store on Thursday evening at the Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
On the surface, Pacquiao does not look worried when he goes for the World Boxing Association welterweight title at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Speed will be his main focus when he goes up against Matthysse, he said.
“Speed ang focus ko, and more punches,” said Pacquiao before he left.
So far, Pacquiao, has gone 5-2 in his last seven encounters.
This includes losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2015 and Jeff Horn in July of 2017.
After Matthysse, Pacquiao appears not to be done.
A possible fight against junior lightweight titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko is in the pipeline and it could happen later this year.
