AN initial batch of 50 national coaches will benefit from the partnership of the Philippine Sports Commission and the United States Sports Academy through its Continuing Sports Education Program.
The details and provisions of the partnership signed last October, 2017 in Davao City, was laid down early this month via the Protocol of Cooperation crafted and signed by PSC Chairman William Ramirez and USSA President Thomas Rosandich in the Alabama, USA.
“Stronger and better ties are what we need to do,” said Ramirez referring to its existing partnerships with four other counterparts from United States Olympic Committee, Korea Institute of Sports Science, China and Russia.
Ramirez announced that the CSEP will “educate 50 national coaches, initially, and then hopefully 50 sports teachers, 50 sports coordinators from LGUs and 50 PSC personnel.”
He further explained that this is just part of his administration’s wish to develop not only the athletes, but also the other personalities that surround them.
“We need to grow together to ensure that we reach our goals,” Ramirez said.
The chief also said that the PSC’s efforts to upgrade provisions for the elite athletes are aimed to inspire them and motivate national sports associations to step up in the management of their own teams.
One of those projects is the provision of clean and well appropriated athletes’ canteen that will be manned by an executive chef and sports nutritionists. This is targeted to start serving on June 2018.
“This is a legacy we are happy to leave the PSC when the times comes,” said Ramirez.
