Two Australian Navy ships now in Subic

Two Australian Navy vessels consisting of a frigate and an oiler ship berthed at the former United States Navy homeport in Subic Bay in Olongapo Thursday upon arriving in the country.

Capt. Lued Lincuna, Philippine Navy public affairs office head, said the two Australian vessels—Her Majesty’s Australian Anzac, a Long Range Guided Missile Frigate and HMAS Success, an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment arrived in the country for a goodwill visit until Sunday.

Lincuna said the visiting Australian navy was accorded a welcome ceremony and subsequently provided a port briefing relating to health and security aboard HMAS Success by Philippine Navy delegates headed by the representative of the Flag Officer-In-Command, Cmdr. Judith Palamos, the Assistant Chief of Education and Training Staff for Personnel and Reservist Affairs of the Naval Education and Training Command.

Meanwhile, Japanese destroyer JS Akizuki (DD-115), will be docking at the Alava Wharf, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Olongapo City for a goodwill visit starting Friday until Monday.

A welcome ceremony and port briefing will be conducted upon arrival of the JMSDF vessel at Alava Wharf after a customary meeting procedure with BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS-35) at the vicinity of Morong, Bataan.

The ship is equipped with one SH-60J patrol helicopter.
