Expect hotter days  in May–Pagasa

Expect hotter days until May due to the termination of the northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan.”

Shelley Ignacio, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecaster, said provinces in the western side of the country, such as Ilocos province, Zamboanga province, and Region 4-B’s Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa) will experience lesser rains or drier days, while Tuguegarao province and some parts of the country will sizzle at a much higher temperature.

Pagasa on Tuesday declared the end of the northeast monsoon and the onset of the dry season, or colloquially called “summer.”

Based on the weather bureau’s observations, there was a gradual increase in the daily temperature in most parts of the country with the weakening of the Siberian high pressure area and the establishment of another high pressure over the North Western Pacific Ocean.
