Police Anti-Kidnapping Group operatives on Tuesday successfully rescued a Japanese national and subsequently arrested three suspects, including another fugitive Japanese who held the victim last month, in an operation in Plaridel, Bulacan.

Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa identified the rescued kidnap victim as Mr. Yuji Nakajima, 32, a tourist and resident of Tokyo.

Dela Rosa did not provide the circumstances behind the kidnapping and rescue, except that the Japanese Embassy in Manila sought the assistance of the AKG upon learning of the whereabouts of Nakajima.

He said that on April 5 at 2 p.m., Japanese police Supt. Takayashi Nakayama and three representatives from the Japanese Embassy coordinated with the AKG to relay the location of a certain Mr. Sumida-ku.

An hour after, the AKG teams together with embassy personnel safely rescued Nakajima and another supposed kidnap victim, Verhel Lumague, in Plaridel.

In a statement, the PNP reported that three of the suspects behind the kidnapping were arrested separately along Evangelista St. in Santolan, Pasig City and in Parañaque City.

One suspect was identified as Miyashita Takashi, a Japanese fugitive and resident of Koiwa Edogawa, Tokyo, presently residing at 1711 East Rio, Azure Condominium in Paranaque. He had a Japanese passport that was canceled on Sept. 11, 2015.

The others were Roberto Reyes, alias “Obet,” 54, a businessman, and Reggie Reyes, 47, a sales representative, both residents of 177A Evangelista St., in Santolan, Pasig.

The PNP said the AKG is still on a manhunt for other suspects in the abduction of Nakajima, while appropriate charges are being readied against the arrested culprits.
