After making an impressive Stateside debut, ruling red carpets, and getting featured as one of young innovators of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list, South Korea’s Bantang Boys, or known worldwide as BTS, are leading the 2018 TIME 100 reader poll of the most influential people.

The online poll that started on time.com on March 28, BTS is leading with 15 percent votes, followed by South Korean president Moon Jae-in (5 percent), former US president Barack Obama (3 percent), pop star Bruno Mars (2 percent), Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown (2 percent), and American author Stephen King (2 percent).

In 2017, BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were also named by TIME magazine as the most influential people on the Internet.

TIME 100 is a list of influential people who have made an impact on the contemporary world. For more than a decade, the annual TIME 100 has featured some of the world’s most significant artists, leaders, scientists, activists and entrepreneurs. While the editors at TIME make the final judgement call on who makes the list, TIME also values who its readers believe are the most influential people of the year.

Indeed, from being South Korea’s local pop sensation, the group has become a global phenomenon. It continues to make the world swoon with its music, its members’ dancing skill and fashion choices, and its music videos that break records on YouTube.
