COCKFIGHTING enthusiasts are one again called to prove who has the fiercest and toughest gamefowls when the illustrious 2018 World Slasher Cup 2 returns to the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum from May 6 to 12, 2018.

With the promise of intense battles among top breeds from all over the world, all eyes will be on World Slasher Cup 2, the second edition this year of the most-awaited cockfighting derby in the country.

Pot money aside, gamefowl breeders are all vying for the prestige of being hailed the WSC champion.

Touted as the “Olympics of Cockfighting,” enthusiasts can expect the best contenders of top breeders and their finest winged-warriors coming from the US, Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

The lone champ of WSC’s first edition last January was Rep. Patrick Antonio. The win earned him his seventh WSC title, which makes him one of the most admired personalities of the sport – an idol to many.

At the Championship ceremony held last February at the Novotel Manla-Araneta Center, the cockfighting idol lauded the organizers of the WSC for fair, clean games that honor sabong as a tradition and a true “gentleman’s sport.”

He echoed what his fellow sabungeros were saying: “Ang mga usapan (nila), ‘Mas may laban tayo kung sa Araneta tayo pupunta’… That’s one of the reasons I stayed on (and continued to) participate in the World Slasher Cup.”

To the cockfighters and breeders, who want to challenge Antonio’s hold on the championship, the WSC 2 dates are as follows: 2-cock Eliminations from May 6 to 7; 3-cock Semis on May 8 and 9; and 4-cock Pre-Finals and 4-cock Finals on May 11 and 12, respectively. WSC 2 will have a one-day break on May 10.

For information and registration concerns, participants may reach the WSC Derby Office at 588-8227 or 911-2928. Sabong fans who want to watch the games live at the Big Dome may call Ticketnet at 911-5555 for tickets and information.
